Introduction

More than 222 million school-aged children worldwide are affected by armed conflict, forced displacement, or protracted humanitarian emergency. In Yemen, nearly a decade of war has produced the world's largest humanitarian crisis. Children with disabilities — already among the most marginalized in any society — bear the heaviest burden.

The Sparx Foundation Global Health and Humanitarian Initiative invests in children in places where investment is scarcest. We support inclusive schools, specialized therapy services, teacher training, and adaptive learning environments, working through trusted local partners with the financial controls and transparency that responsible giving demands.

About the project

What we do

• Support inclusive academy operations including teacher and therapist salaries, classroom materials, and adaptive equipment.

• Provide tuition assistance and learning materials for students with disabilities.

• Deliver speech, occupational, and physical therapy services where they are otherwise unavailable.

• Train teachers and caregivers in inclusive education methods and behavioral support.

• Maintain vetted in-country partners with monthly financial reporting and annual external review.

• Comply with U.S. Treasury, OFAC, and IRS requirements for international charitable grants.

Flagship initiative: ASYA — A Special Youth Academy in Yemen

ASYA provides inclusive education and holistic care to children with disabilities in Yemen, creating a nurturing environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
